The demand of electricity is increasing every day with more than the pace of new generation being added to the system. The short supply condition is here to stay for a long time no matter whatever the politicians are claiming and promising – facts on ground seems widely divergent, one can imagine the pressure on government to sanction new connections in a country where more than 35 million people are still living without grid.
The poor grid is ageing and the infrastructure in place has its own carrying capacity limitation therefore even if more generation is available, its transportation will remain an issue.
In these circumstances, distributed generation and localized grids are the only sustainable solution which can relax the situation and can do some good to the grid by not demanding much from it i.e., by meeting self demand with self-generation as much as possible.
Renewable Solar is an economical and feasible distributed generation means, offering a win-win situation for consumers, the grid and those very people who are not yet connected to the grid. All day-time electricity consumers like university campuses, schools, banks, offices, etc. if they choose to go green then beside getting rid of the load shedding syndrome and its associated costs, will also save on their electricity bills. Investment in self generation using renewable solar has proven high ROI (there are few technical reasons for this as well), whereas at the same time they will contribute in freeing up the grid for those who need it the most.
